O nosso parceiro Sahara Desert Challenge — como o Overland-IN — alimenta-se da paixão pelas viagens para não baixar os braços, nem parar. Por isso, planeiam a edição de 2021 da expedição que liga Coruche a Dacar, no Senegal.

Our partner, Sahara Desert Challenge — like us, at Overland-IN —, feeds on the passion for travel, not giving up nor stopping. It comes as no surprise that they are planning to go forward with the 2021 edition of the Great African Adventure expedition, connecting Coruche, Portugal, to Dakar, Senegal.

A promessa é que esta — a 9.ª edição — será a com maior extensão feita fora de estrada.

Irá ligar os dois continentes da Europa e África, atravessando Portugal, Espanha, Marrocos, Mauritânia e Senegal, num expedição que pretende recriar os momentos e locais do mítico Rally Dakar, aberto a motos, camiões e carros 2wd e 4wd. Ao contrário da prova lendária, o Sahara Desert Challenge está preparado para manter tudo dentro de valores acessíveis e não exige perícia de condução ou navegação, nem de viaturas preparadas de forma especial.

A cada ano, as novas edições reinventam-se, encontrando novos troços fora de estrada em pistas no interior da região do Saara Ocidental, da Mauritânia e do Senegal.

Não consigo deixar de pensar nos relatos de amigos que o fizeram e como, ainda hoje o recordam como uma das melhores expedições que fizeram, de entre as muitas que lhes conheço. A organização da Mundo de Aventuras, com rigor profissional e um conhecimento ganho no terreno, permite aos participantes disfrutarem e em números impressionantes, como os quase 100 da última edição.

The promise is that this — the 9th edition — will be the one with the largest extension done off-road.

It will connect the two continents of Europe and Africa, crossing Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Mauritania, and Senegal, on an expedition that aims to recreate the moments and places of the mythical Dakar Rally, open to motorcycles, trucks, and 2wd and 4wd cars. Unlike the legendary race, the Sahara Desert Challenge is prepared to keep everything within accessible values and does not require driving or navigation skills, nor does it require specially prepared vehicles.

Each year, new editions are reinvented, finding new off-road sections on tracks in the interior of the Western Sahara region, Mauritania and Senegal.

I can't help remembering the faces, smiles, and reports of friends who did it and how, even today, they recall it as one of the best expeditions they did, among the many I know of them. The organization of Mundo de Aventuras — with professional rigor and knowledge gained in the field — allows participants to enjoy and in impressive numbers, such as the almost 100 of the last edition.
